Midicow is on a distinguished road

Problem with ati drivers in general

I have an old ati x1300pro agp 256mb card on 8x, windows xp pro with omega drivers 3.8.330.

Since installing omega drivers 3.8.330, I have experianced issues with some games

crashing and experiancing odd glitches. I had upgraded from 7.1 catalyst to omega, and

noticed that after a bit of gameplay glitches involving transperant textures start

appearing on games like: Anarchy online, CnC3, planetside, supreme commander, and

other games that use d3d. In CnC3 particularly, black boxes apear on things that get

alphaed sprites/shaders applied to them, usually right before the program crashes with

an "E_out_of_memory" error.

In anarchy online, I can usually play for a while, but if I load enough areas my renderer

bugs out and I must restart my computer to avoid seeing a constant flashy screen of doom(tm).

Other games just randomly freeze.

It brings me to wonder if the problem involves the alpha buffer, but I am not sure quite what to do about it.

There are d3d games I have that also play without incidence, like Bf2142 or halflife 2.

I've uninstalled omega drivers, and installed 7.2 catylst, without change in the problem.

I am going to attempt to install the latest ngo drivers to see if anything changes.

Edit: Ngo drivers solve a few issues, Alpha issue is still there, but dosen't allways cause a crash.. Instead after a while the computer does that unique xp "restart without warning like someone bumped the restart button" crash.

Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!

What PSU, brand and size, do you have? Specifically, how many AMPS are listed on the 12V Rail?

While you're answering this, go ahead and give us a total rundown on the system specifications for your PC: OS, CPU, Mobo, etc.....
