new GFX card doesn`t work. advice ?

Hi, I just bought a sapphire x1950pro agp8x (older machine).
installation went fine but while windows was ok, any game (even ATT`s benchmark) just hangs with blocky crap all over the screen. the gfx card fan is spinning ok and I`ve got a hyper psu 600w which should be plenty. (running on a MSI KT4V Mboard)

I tried omega 7.1 and also the latest 7.2 with CCC (which didnt work at all, CCC doesn`t run at all, neither does mom.exe, complains about missing libraries or something. .net 1.1 and 2.0 installed fine though).

is it the card ? seems odd that windows would be ok then die just for games. my last card was also ant ati x800.

any thoughts. thanks

I believe I read that some of those Sapphire cards were made poorly in that the heatsink was not actually contacting the surface properly. Some have reported that they could hold the card up and see daylight through that area. If that's the case with yours, it needs to be RMA'd immediately.
