Sad 8500 D3D problem

Ok, i was in this thread http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthr...e=&pagenumber=1

& I got that demo to run once.

Here is my problem...Just about any D3D title, I can hear my monitor switch to resolution X from my desktop (1280X1024). then I see the program loading & maybe the first minute or two I can play, then I hear/see the monitor click back to desktop & the D3D game just becomes a minimized program in the taskbar. I hit it with the mouse, play a minute or two, then that cycle will repeat.

I have seen this pretty much from the day I bought this card (it was the very first one sold by the Morrow, GA BestBuy)...I mostly play Q3 so I never much cared, but I figure I beter try to get this fixed. Better late than never, right!

Anywoo...I have an 8500 64M(built by ATI) /w cat 3.2 (& that force refresh program applied) WinXP Pro/Service Pack 1, 512 DDR 2100, SB Audigy Gamer, KDS 19in monitor from Wal-Mart for $210.00. Logitech, force feedback wheel, joystick, & game pad, & generic USB mouse connected through a USB hub . ECS K7S5A with the latest BIOS.

I mention the controllers because, for example, if I'm just running a D3D bencmark like the UT2003 demo program that [H] did then it's just fine. It seems that when I try to play a D3D game that I get this problem.

Anybody seen this, got suggetions would be most appreciated.

Are you exiting all background tasks before playing? Also, you might have spyware or something similar that's causing this. I can't say for sure. Also, try disabling that refresh force program.
