Cool! Radeon Omega Drivers 2.5.88 for Win9x/ME

Ok folks, the the Omega drivers are ready for download, here is the info:

New (Omega 2.5.88)
* Based on the official 9088 ATI drivers (Catalyst 3.2)
* Added support for the following chipsets:
Radeon 9500 non Pro
Radeon 9800 Pro
* The SMARTGART control panel has been RE-ENABLED, ATI asked me to re-enable it as a favor, so I did it.
* Fixed the FPD not showing in the Display CP.
* Removed various tweaks as they where no longer necessary.
* Added the 9500/9700 to 9800 hack, now the 9800 pipeline is enabled by default in the drivers, there is going to be a BIG speed increase in D3D for these cards.
* Changed a some stuff in the drivers setup, please read the installer options more carefully now, they include some important info and it's now better explained for newbies.

Go get them in our new Drivers Download section.

Enjoy!

UPDATE!

The fixed "a" version can be downloaded here at the moment.

Getting an INFSETUP error

Details say something about Windows Installer error.

Rebooting, I'm getting a 'Display Adapter not configured properly' message and am restricted to 16 bit, 640x480.

This is on my 98SE machine with the RADEON 64 DDR VIVO card.

Help, please.

exclamation IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!!

IF YOU HAVE A 9100 OR LOWER CARD, DON'T USE THESE DRIVERS (yet)!!! (9500 and higher will work fine)

I made a mistake with the files and cards lower than a 9500 WON'T WORK, just install previous drivers or don't upgrade until the FIXED "a" drivers are up, which will be by tomorrow.
I have fixed the problem and the new ones are now uploading (I'm on a 56k, so it will take a while).

Sorry if I have caused this much trouble

Stay tuned tomorrow...

See ya!

Guys seems our driver server is down atm, and people are having problems getting these, so ive hosted them on the Driverheaven server:

these are the locations for downloading:

2k/XP
9x/ME

This is the revised "a" set for each, and will fix the problems that have been reported.

Which tweaks were removed and how come they weren't
needed anymore?

(I know, not really needed to know, but i'm always curious).

Omega,

I'd be lost w/o ya!

Many thanks, once again for your splendid drivers! I swear if it wasn't for them: I'd sell my ATi cards. No bs. ATi drivers just don't work good enuf, for me. Yours do > everytime. (I will say the 3.2 Cat is a 'better' driver than the other ATi drivers I've used.)

I've never had any problems with Omega's drivers, till last night. I must have downloaded them a couple minutes after he posted them so of course they didn't work. I downloaded the new 2588a's and I get the following message:

Archive integrity check failed
The expected setup file is 13,598,472
The actual setup file is 13,007,124
Setup aborted

What is going on here, can someone shed some light on this? I don't believe I have ever seen that come up before.

Bad upload. <sigh>

Looks like someone got impatient and tried to start downloading it before Angel got done uploading it. I've gotten the same error before, I used to test sets for this sort of thing back when I worked for a website... I got the same error, could someone please re-upload the file? (Under a different name so no one interrupts it. )

Thumbs Up! Yeah!!!!

The link off of "mirror" from this thread worked fine for me. It gave me a 12.9MB file. The file on DH's driver download page gave me a 12.4MB file that didn't work. (The Cat3.2a for 9x/me set)

Installing now. Happy-happy, joy-joy!

I'm using PowerStrip to oc & force the refresh rate, so ... ???

I did pick up another 30pts in 3DM03 tho'. Total of 80pts over the 3.1 Omega & a whooping 170pts over the 3.2Cat! Makes 3DM03 almost look good now.

System Specs

88a's for 9x/Me

Just a note to let you know that the driver had a problem during the install that literally froze my laptop (2nd listed unit below), having stuck on an inf file at the very end of the ATI driver file install sequence (had to hold down the power button to turn off then reboot). Seems ok to ignore though as your driver shows installed from the display properties dialogue. Runs UT GOTY (Direct X) and Serious Sam 2nd Edition (Open GL) just fine. Thanks again for your splendid work Omegadrive!

Sad

I can't get anything past the 9062's to work with a couple older games in 98, even the omega's! Powerslide and Porsche Unleashed. Both games jerk and stutter with anything newer than 9068's. I use the 9062's, they seem a little smoother than the 9068's!

Where can I get the old Omega Drivers vor ATI Radeon, which based on Catalyst 2.9? I have a Game (BoD), which only works with the Catalysts 2.x, with the 3.x it has heavy problems.

quick question about omega drivers[win9x]:

does the setup program auto install the drivers or unpacks\decompresses them to a folder?

if installs, how can the drivers be unpacked/decompressed[winzip\winrar, don't work]?
i like to know what files are being install, i mean i used winzip to decompress all the ati drivers i've downloaded, then if i need to replace or test to see if my problem is a driver file, i open up a dos window and then use the dos command "expand" to decompress the file i need.

The file is an installer that can't be decompressed by any program, and all the installer does is extract the drivers to a folder you choose, that's all, there you can see all the files that where extracted, and the installer is essential since it provides me with info on what you want to install and how to decompress it.

did u mean cat 3.1 ? (9082) ? me too...
cat 3.1 still better and smoother than cat 3.2 (9088) and cat 3.4 (9099) for my system
or maybe cat 3.1 (official v9082, or omega v2582) is the best suit for Radeon 8500 ?

Keep up the good work. I cant beleve that you have been hassled by Nvidia, im not biased
against any company but thats bad.

btw. Hope you can get some time to put in the 9700>9800 hack. I havent worked out how to put
it in myself yet. Thanks
