6.12 Catalyst drivers & Radeon Mobility 9700
I am currently running catalyst drivers 6.5 with my mobility 9700 chipset, which I installed using DHmodtool 3 with out incident. I recently attempted to upgrade to catalyst drivers 6.12 w ccc using DHmodtool 4 but this proved to be quite problematic. On my first installation attempt I used Dhmodtool 3, this instance ccc did not install and a number of abberations occured ie: the machine was sluggish, scrolling a web page was very slow w the page seemingly being reloading with every tic downward. I then installed the newest .net frame work and DHmodtool 4, uninstalled the driver, restarted the computer and reinstalled 6.12. Following the reinstallation I again rebooted. yet this time as windows was loading the desktop the screen flickered off and on and finaly justed display a bunch of yellow grated boxes which forced me to do a hardboot. I have since reloaded the 6.5 drivers and the system is running smoothly with this set but I would like to upgrade to 6.12 if at all possible, any idears as to whats preventing me from doing so? Oe of the motivatoins for the upgrade besides the preformace benifits is to regain the display switching features which I have lost since upgrading from the factory drivers, ccc does not want to install with either set. so is there an alterative software avaliable enable me to use my vga out on my laptop?
system information: Acer TravelMate 3200 Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 Intel Pentium M 1.8Ghz CPU 768MB DDR 2700 RAM Ati Mobility Radeon 9700 64MB |

Thanks for the responce but the reason I have to use the DHmodtool is that the mobility installer does not permit installation of that driver set onto my computer. My options therefor are use the archaic acer factory driver, use a 3rd party driver, or use the lastest ATI desktop driver (moded with the Dhmodtool), Idealy I would like to go with the last option but I am having the aformentioned issues.

1.) Uninstall all .Net versions you have installed on your PC.
2.) Uninstall all ATI Software you have installed on your PC. 3.) Boot into safemode and run DriverCleaner. Make sure you first clean the SP2.CAB and Driver.CAB files, then proceed with cleaning all ATI software. 4.) Boot back into Windows and download the following: Directx 9.0c December Release: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en .Net 2.0 Redist: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Intel Chipset Software: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...D=816&lang=eng 5.) Install these in the following order, Intel Chipset Software, Directx 9.0c, .Net 2.0 Redist. 6.) Download Mobility Modder 4 and the CCC 6.12 from X1950 link ( it dosen't matter really which link you choose ) 7.) Run the install for the ATI drivers extracting them to the default location. When you arrive at the ATI Software screen cancel the install. 8.) Run Mobility Modder ( it should be set for the default install path so you shouldn't need to change it ). When prompted to install the driver click no. 9.) Open My Computer and go to the ATI directory and run the exe labled Setup ATI CIM Application Launcher Module. 10.) Choose custom install and uncheck the WDM driver and click next. Hopefuly this works for you.
