Modded 3.2 cats for mobility users
Didn't had to wait long, they are already here
added support for:
Mobility Fire GL 9000
Mobility Radeon 9000
Radeon Mobility
Radeon Mobility 7500
Radeon Mobility 7500 GL

EDIT: Sorry people, my hoster isn't working right now. They should be back up here by the end of the week.

Internet explorer refreshes so slow, desktop and application acceleration is very poor...
Any advice?

looks like the driver didn't install good. Try reinstalling them by using update driver trough the device manager and select the driver, install and reboot.

Open it with "WinRAR", a program with a free demo version available, then use the files inside to install

Hi guys,
I got a laptop recently, which supposedly has a mobility radeon 8500 in it according to the specs I got from the vendor. I haven't seen such a card mentioned anywhere at all though, all I saw was mobility 7500 and 9000. I installed the mobility radeon 9000 drivers linked on this thread (thank you for that patje!) and it seems to be working fine. In fact, I was getting around 600 3dmarks in 3dmark03 with my original drivers but with these I get around 1100. So my question is, does that mean my video card is actually a mobility 9000 or is it just sheer luck? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you bought an ECS G732. It is actually a Mobility Radeon 9000. I opened mine up and there is a 9000 chip inside. ECS's specs do say 8500 M9. There is no such thing as an mobility 8500, ATI never built one. The M9 is a 9000. I have no idea why ECS and some of there resellers say it's an 8500, they would sell a lot more if they advertised the 9000.

Yup you're right Beaker I got the G732. Thanks for the info! Which drivers do you use? The ones I got from this thread seem to be working quite nicely.

I've used all the third party drivers on this site. Patje's have been by far the best.

Do you mind comparing some benchmarks? Somehow I don't feel like I'm using this machines full potential, with a 1100 3dmark03 score.

I just my best at 1241 (3rd overall for the mobility 9000) so 1100 isn't bad at all. Before Patje's Cat 3.2 drivers I was at 1096. 3dmark03 just sucks.

WTF? The atioglxx.dll file in this one sucks hard. I get 90 fps @ 800 x 600 x 32 on my laptop in Quake 3 with 3.1, and with 3.1 I get 65 fps with the same settings. I replace the atioglxx.dll file and it's fine.

3dMark03 is probably good if you got yourself a 9700 or better.
It is also build to support Directx 9.0 features which we mobility users dont have.
My advise: use 3dmark01SE. The result are easier to compare.
With my mobility 7500 32mb I get about 4200.
I suggest you beat that score with your M9.
But in the end benchmarks say litlle, play a game before and after installation of a new driver and then check out the difference.
Greetz.
BTW Zardon thanx again for the title and medal!!

I suppose it doesn't really suck. At the moment the required hardware is pretty steep. In time the average graphics card will run it fine. I guess Futermark did this to extend the product life.
3dmark 2001SE 9550 marks
3dmark03 1241 marks
I'd like to see the same point system between the two.

oh I understand what you mean, I just wondered if you had problems getting it to run or something.
it is really intensive, they just dont want it to be dated this time next year, as you say.
