ATI Tray Tools Question (simple)

Hi,

Just wondered, do I have to have Tray Tools running in order for my overclocking settings to work?

i.e. if I reboot without Tray Tools, will be GPU & mem speeds run as standard?

Thanks.

you have saved the OC profile? there is option that enables you to load profile in start-up. so enable it and select the right profile.

yes, but I have a feeling that this will only work if I have Tray Tools set to load on boot - which I dont, currently.

I like to have as few apps loading at boot as possible (obviously), but Im not sure it will load that profile without the application being loaded.

The easiest way to eliminate an app for just overclocking is to dump the bios and then mod it and then reflash the card with the modded bios. There is the chance of a bad flash that could kill the card but that usually only happens if the power goes out during the flash or you kill the flash before it is completed.

So your confirming that if I dont run the App at boot-time (or manually thereafter), that the overclocking will not happen?

The only way i know to overclock a card without ANY app being started is by modding the bios. The bios is where the clocks are determined at boot and then whatever app is configured overclocks the card when it is launched. If the app is not launched then the card is not overclocked. I am no programmer but i would think there would be a way to write some code that would launch at boot to just overclock the card???

EDIT: You can configure ATT to not reset the oc when you exit the program. It still needs to be launched at boot OR manually when you want to oc your card.
