Omega 3.8.291 installation hanging? Uninstalled devices?

Relatively new machine, no issues with Omega or ATI installs before- ATIX850XT Platinum

1) When setup comes to installing the drivers it just hangs, checking task manager, ikernel.exe is hitting 99% CPU use. Cancelled install, rebooted and tried again, to no avail.

2) Installed manually when the windows detection popped up, pointed it to the installation folder created at the beginning of omega setup with fast writes off- the first detection is the primary driver, installs fine, the second is the secondary driver and it installs fine, the third is the plug n play display, the fourth is "unknown" and it doesn't recognize when pointing it to the driver locations. Device manager, now shows 2 devices that are not installed properly- "Multimedia audio controller" Location: PCI bus 0, device 4, function 0, and the "unknown" Location: on RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition (Omega 3.8.291). What are these and how can I install them?

Or how can i get the setup program to work?


FYI- i ran the ATI uninstall and Driver Cleaner Pro before starting this.

Try to download WDM drivers from ATI's site. Probably this is your problem.
Had it too with newest Omega's until I pointed to the location of Cat 6.10 Beta and the setup wizard found new devices and Installed them correctly.

well i uninstalled the omega and installed the DHzer0point drivers without the CCC, and then installed the latest ATI Tray Tools, runs great, but I still would like some resolution on the omegas.
