Help with ATI Tray Tools/Omega

Ok.. I've made a bit of a mess up.

I downloaded and installed the latest Omega drivers today oblivious to the fact the new Catalyst drivers its based on doesn't support my ATI Radeon 7000. The PC reset and did some other crazy crap and I uninstalled them and went back to the previous Omegas (3.8.252) that had been working nicely for last couple of months. I thought problem was solved.

Anyways I then tried to load up ATI Tray Tools...and it now reboots my PC everytime. I don't know what's wrong with it. I uninstalled it and reinstalled a seperate version off the internet, same problem. I then uninstalled the entire Omega drivers and used Driver Cleaner in Safe mode to delete all the ATI stuff. Then reinstalled the Omega drivers (3.8.252). I clicked on ATI Tray Tools again....and still it reboots my PC.

I'm stumped. I'd really like to know what's happened with this. I got a new PC for my birthday as was sick to death of my last machine constantly bluescreening and rebooting and all that crap. I'd hate to think this one was getting like that already.

Can anyone help?

I don't think that ATT supports your Radeon 7000

Greetings and welcome to Driverheaven!

First of all, did you have ATT working previously on this same computer? And, was it with this particular video card?

If so, it sounds like you need to revert to the previous ATT also and it's not letting you do so. Once you have uninstalled the video drivers, use Crap Cleaner's ISSUES app to clean up the Windows Registry before tying again. You can download it here: www.ccleaner.com

Due to the age of your video card, you'll need to give great consideration to which drivers you install as you won't be able to update the drivers to anything past 6.5 I believe.

Good luck!

Just a noob question here:

I installed the new Omegas (based on 6.7 cat) and also ATT in order to change the settings of the drivers (not using overclocking). Do I need to have ATT always running while I play the game in order to have the settings that I selected active (d3d,ogl,catalyst a.i., etc) or do I only need to run ATT when I want to make changes in the settings (thus not needing to load ATT on windows startup)?

Thanks in advance!
