radeon320m not compatible with omega drivers?

I have a 320m radeon with windows xp on a Compaq Presario Laptop. Well, omega drivers will not install on my machine. It says Inf Error, video driver not found. So.. i try uninstalling ati drivers and making windows use default vga drivers, still doesnt work. Last of all i force install the drivers with windows. And guess what happens, i get 2fps in SOF2, other than that it works fine, but whats the point if you cant play games with video drivers... so i reinstalled default drivers has anyone else had this problem? let me know

exclamation Won't work on my IGP 340m

I have a presario 2100 US which has the IGP 340m display. I tried to install the driver you guys provided in this post and it did not work. This is not a suprise to me because I have spent the last week and a half trying almost a hundred different solutions/drivers/methods/etc. I'm trying to run 2000 pro on my laptop but no one has a working driver for my display. There are tons of people that are as confused as I am in the HP and ATI forums, and I don't know what to do. It seems I've tried everything except writing the driver myself....but I don't know how so I guess I'm out of luck. Any help would be appreciated!

hey brian,

im sorry to see that they don't work for you. Some IPG users claim to say they work.
anyway, I recently changed the files. the download file is now a zip file.
did you get that one?

also, did you try updating the drivers manually? instead of using the setup.exe?

greetz and luck

Hey Digit,

Welcome to the forum, you can to the right place!

The IGP seems to be a pain in the but, at least for win2k.
I've been lookinf for solution for a while now and i cam up with 2 possible solutions.

try this:

Download the latest catalyst drivers. and install them, you will get an error but don't worry about that, next ...
either try installing the driver manually by going to the device manager, select the videocard, properties, driver tab, choos update driver
specify the second option (display a list....)
browse to the extracted files (c:\ati...) and look for a file named (C2_something.inf) and select the file, press ok.
You'll get a list of all the cards from the catalyst set. Choose the RADEON VE en press OK. You'll probably get an error from windows saying that the driver you specified is not for your card, ignore it and use that driver.

or use the mobility modder which you can find here --> www.driverheaven.net/patje

I hope that helps!

Patje

Ps: If you first use the mobility modder and want to try the other option, install the catalyst file again until you get the error and start from there.

Hi Patje,

I have download the RADEON VE W2K catalyst driver (wxp-w2k-radeon-7-84-030228a1-008040c-efg.exe) from ati website and I can't find any RADEON VE in the C2xxx.inf

Does any drivers in this list fit IGP430M/RS200M ?

IGP 320M working here!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents and let you know that I tried the latest Dhmodtool1.1.exe on Cat3.2 on a IGP 320M laptop with XP and it worked fine. Also, just for kicks, here are some changes i've noticed between the drivers that came with the laptop and the modded Cat3.2.

Overall 2D acceleration is greatly improved. Before, even when I turned off PowerNow by setting power management to be Always On, I felt like the laptop was using some off the wall video card because using XP's Luna interface, all the menus would VERY slowly pop up. Windows would not keep up all the time when being dragged, etc.

Games I've tried:

WarCraft 3, seems about the same...Maybe alittle smoother.

Unreal Tournament (not sure i would try to punish the 320 with UT2k3), 100% better. Before, it would play horribly fast forcing me to change the game speed to it lowest setting, 50% to be playable. Everything works fine now and i've set the game speed back up to 100%.

Quake 3. Unplayable now. I haven't played around with resolutions or other settings but at 1024x768, it was fine before but I feel like i'm getting 2fps. Pretty horrible. (Good thing I would rather play UT)

I haven't tried any other games but overall, Quake III seems to be the only thing that was adversely effected.

Thanks patje!!! Awesome job your doing!!!

BTW, someone posted that they got the Presario 2100 for $845...I was about to get that too until I saw my newly acquired laptop for the same price...

HP Pavilion 4300
Athlon XP 1800+ (NOT a Celeron!)
256mb DDR
IGP 320M (64mb shared)
XP Home (haven't had time to replace it yet)
and lots of other goodies including dvd/cdrw 8dvdx24recx12rwx24rea and firewire
15" screen

Digit,

Try the

"ALL-IN-WONDER VE PCI"

I believe that is the same as the radeon VE but i'll come back on that later.

My Compaq presario 2100CA is now working with W2K

First you have to flash the BIOS to KE.M1.58

Next download the RADEON catalyst 3.2 from ATI (wxp-w2k-radeon-7-84-030228a1-008040c-efg.exe)

You will get an error but don't worry about that

Use the mobility modder which you can find here --> www.driverheaven.net/patje

Install driver manually by going to the device manager, select the videocard, properties, driver tab, choos update driver
specify the second option (display a list....) browse to the extracted files (c:\ati...) and look for a file named (C2_something.inf) and select the file, press ok.

Choose IGP340M

VoilĂ*!

Digit23,

How did you get the driver to work? I have the same laptop model as you do and I replicated the steps described in your previous post. Did you install a different driver first?

First you have to flash the BIOS to KE.M1.58 (very important, won't work with older BIOS)

Install W2K

Next download the RADEON catalyst 3.2 from ATI (wxp-w2k-radeon-7-84-030228a1-008040c-efg.exe)

Install that driver. You will get an error but don't worry about that, it,s just to extract the file

Use the mobility modder which you can find here --> www.driverheaven.net/patje

Mod the orginal driver that as been extract previously with Patje modder tool

Install the driver again, you won't get an error

Choose IGP340M

I have do this on 3 brand new 2100CA
