Trouble with Dell C610 with Radeon 16meg Vid Card...
I've been using my trusty Dell C610 laptop as a desktop for the last couple of years.
I decided to treat myself and bought a Viewsonic 19" widescreen LCD monitor (VA1912wb). The resolution needed to run this monitor is 1440x900 and naturally the video drivers that were installed on the laptop weren't up to spec. After a little searching, I found this wonderful site and downloaded the new drivers and all is wonderful...almost. While running in 1440x900, things look okay, except a little shadowing that goes off to the right of whatever object is on the screen. For example, the video properties box...when it's onscreen I see a light shadow copy that goes off to the right about 1mm beside it and another beside that one. I don't see it in the box itself, really just to the right of all objects onscreen. The start bar has the same problem. Sounds weird, I know. At other resolutions it doesn't happen. Is there a tweak for this or is my 16meh ATI Radeon just maxing out? |

You might just be looking at the LCD slightly crooked... ? Sounds like what I see when I look at an LCD off axis

LCD have a native res, check to see what that one runs at. Anything else and you could have problems.

As for native resolution, I believe it's 1440x900. As stated in my original post, I had to work to find a solution to find the right driver for my vid card to run this resolution.

That sort of ghosting is usually from an iffy data cable, not heard of the issue before now on a DVI LCD monitor before however. Worth a shot if you can borrow someone elses cable.

just run it at a lower res. thats an older laptop and i dont think the video card likes it very much - regardless if your running an external mon/lcd.
i would say 1024x768 is a really high res for most laptops (LCD's already part of the unit). going higher is going to cause issues most likly. otherwise try omega drivers and see if that helps.
