Omega Drivers - Opening ATi CP Causes Reboot
I know absoultely nothing about what you guys on this forum are talking about, but I did catch a part about omega drivers being better than regular drivers. I installed ati omega drivers(the latest one), and was completly confused by half the things in the installation, but i got through it. I restarted my comp and tried to open up ati control panel(I have no idea what this is, and i was curious), and my computer rebooted itself! So i got back into windows and tried running Empire Earth 2, which is fairly graphics consuming(Not as much as F.E.A.R. or Oblivion though), and tried running it with graphics maxed out. It seems to work a lot better. But it bothers me that the system reboots after trying to open up ati control panel. Can someone please tell me what I probably did wrong and how to make it better. Here is my dxdiag:

After I installed them:

Greetings!!
I have used Omega's drivers for years now. I still like to use them and hope he'll continue to provide his excellent expertise to the users of ATi cards.
One of the main things that have to be done is to Uninstall the ATi Control Panel prior to installing the Omegadrivers. This is the ONLY requirement per his own instructions. Once you uninstall that, you can then proceed to install his drivers 'over the top' of existing ATI drivers. The VERY important thing is to be sure to say, YES, when prompted to overwrite any files during the installation.
I've done it this way for years and have had very few issues. I know there will be responses saying that you need to use DriverCleaner or some other app, but, it's really not necessary.
So, at this point, try uninstalling the ATI control panel from the Add/Remove list in the Windows Control Panel and then reinstall the Omegadrivers.
Good luck!

I had uninstalled it prior to the installation, and i clicked yes on all overwrite files things. BTW, its ATI Tray Tools I tried to open, not ATI control panel. I removed the control panel be4 the installation. Heres the weird part: I went to the Add/Remove Programs to try what u said anyway, and the only ATI thing that shows up is ATI display drivers.

The ATI Tray Tools is NOT the ATI Control Panel. To get the ATI Control Panel, simply right click a blank space on the Desktop and then select Properties and then click the SETTINGS tab. You should be good to go from there.
If it's the ATT (Tray Tools) that's giving you problems, we have a whole nother issue to deal with.

Do you get an ATT icon in your Taskbar near the clock when you try to start ATT? OR, is that when your system reboots? At what point does the system reboot?

I have to leave for work in only a few minutes.
It would be helpful if you will list your computer specs including motherboard, CPU, RAM, video card, sound card, etc.
While it may be a while before another response from me, maybe you can try installing these drivers from within SAFEMODE.
Also, you posted the DXDIAG differences, but did not point out what was your concern. If it's the line saying that the file/s aren't digitally signed, that's normal. That's why, when installing 3rd party drivers, you have to click on the Continue Anyway prompt.

Here's mine:
When you hover the cursor over it, you get the yellow info box. I added the red arrow to make sure you see the correct one.

Just press the PrtSc (Print Screen) key and then open up your image editor (PAINT will do in a bind) and then PASTE the image into your program.

You need to Uninstall the ATI Control Panel from your ADD/REMOVE list and also make sure you have Uninstalled the ATI Catalyst Control Center.
