??? Fastwrites ON for A64s using AGP?

For years everyone has said to turn off fastwrites to improve stability, but I notice that Omega suggests turning them ON when using an Athlon 64 with an AGP card. I've just built an A64 on an Asrock 939Dual board so I could contiune to use my AGP 9800 card while deciding on a PCIe replacement. So far I've been running into random crashes and hard locks in some games, and I'm wondering if fastwrites being off could cause this?

Are A64s the exception to the fastwrites rule?

riles9262 will become famous soon enough

Some say it is, you'd have to try it. I've had fastwrites on since getting this board, and I don't have any stability problems.

I'm using the Asrock939Dual too and find that yes it does improve performance slightly in the 3dmark benchmarks I did but I doubt that translates much in games. No clue if it affects system stability. Fast Writes off won't cause lockups/crashes its generally the other way around.

i don't know if games gain any speed with fastwrites turned on, but i've always had it turned on for one reason: without fastwrites, playback of HD videos (1080i/p) is choppy for me.
