LCD 5:4 ratio question

I have a Viewsonic VX910 that has a 5:4 ratio using the DVI input. It's native res is 1280x1024. I was just wondering if it's possible to get a 4:3 res(and any other ratio's that differ from 5:4) to display and maintain the aspect ratio. I would want it to fill up as much as possible or even just to get it to display in a smaller screen in the center. I can't get neither to work and the only option I have is scale image to panel size. I have ran with and without for 800X600 resolution and my whole screen was filled both times. I am currently using the latest 6.3 version of Omega and have used the official 6.1-6.4 from ATI.

My main question is does anyone else have this option and if it works with the same 5:4 screen setup that I have and if so what drivers and other utilities are you using?

Thx

Theres the centre timing option in the CCC, works mostly but the controls are no where near as good as the Nvidia ones.

Most decent LCD's have options to control ratios and or scaling (but its not always obvious where in the OSD)

Thx, new info for me though

I did try those probably about the time you posted this with the 6.4 from ATI and no go. It displayed the 800x600 game exactly as if it had not been checked. It seems as though I'm having no luck with this and I've got different problems with my laptop which I do most my gaming on(ATI card too).

Thx for reply though, greatly appreciated!
