Base,WDM, from diff. versions?

Hey guys, I am trying to figure something out. OK I want to use a Base driver from one set of drivers..that doesn't contain WDM's..and then I want to use WDM's from another driver set. Is this possible and if it is how would I do it? I tried installing the WDM's fisrt then installing the Base but it seem to just erase the other set...I am trying to figure it out..if you guys have any ideas..I would be greatful. I was think I might have to unzip the two version and replace the base drivers in the WDM pack with the base drivers I want..that sound about right?
