Toshiba Satellite ATI Mobility.

Hello, firstly thankyou for creating these drivers, they are the only ones which work on my laptop after SP2 - the ATI official drivers don't work.

I bought this laptop 2nd hand, the issue i have is when i play a video in windows media player the laptop will switch off completely , it doesnt shut down it simply powers off instantly as if the power has been cut.

If i play a DVD movie it doesnt power down.

Spec:

P4 2.2
Hitachi 30GB
512 ram
Intel Lan.
ATI Mobility Radeon.

I think this may be due to overheating, however im not 100% certain.

any help much appreicated.

cheers

mabe you have a bad hard drive.
use an application called spinrite to check the smart values of the hard drive to see if its good or not.
other than that, restore your system using the restore disks. thats all you can do besides sending it in for service, which is probably going to cost ya even more money, but if its not a hard drive and not software issue, your going to shell out the money for service (parts and labor - possibly a new motherboard ~ 500+ for toshiba) or buy a new one.

yup that works too! we usually just use air to blow it out, but some units like in that link you need to take off the heatsink.

and if your unit is a certain type of toshiba... they have a common problem with the fans going bad. i forget the model #... mabe m15 or something.
want spinrite... get it here - use nero to make a boot cd or floppy disk to boot from.
