Hi, I'm new to this forum and modded drivers, but from what I hear the Omega Drivers are currently the best ones... however, I am having a problem with the Omega drivers (and all the other ones I have used).
The problem: Flickering screen, lines that keep flickering, messed up output image on my screen, the mouse turns into a line, can't really use computer. Need to restart into Safe Mode and uninstall to go back to normal. The setup: Compaq Presario X1200, ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 AGP (0x4C66), Internal DAC (350MHz), Refresh Rate = 60Hertz, Resolution = 1280X800, 96 DPI, Hardware Acceleration on Full, 1.6 GHz CPU, and Write combining enabled. Please ask if you need more info! Is my graphics card even worth getting a modded driver? The reason I really want a modded driver is because the normal one can't handle Enter the Matrix - crashes the whole machine, and sometimes can't handle Star Wars BII either. I really hope you guys can help me... Thanks in advance.... P.S. Sorry for the double-post. I thought people will probably not help me in the "new release" thread compared to myself making a new one...

when you say the normal ones cant handle a specific game, do you mean the drivers your laptop maker supply or have you tried modding the newest ATI offical drivers with our mobility modding tool? www.driverheaven.net/patje ?

The normal ones are the ones Compaq (HP) supplies on their site for me. I haven't tried modding the ATI drivers with that modding tool. I'll try that now and see what happens. I thought the Omega drivers where already modded, but better optimized and supported more cards... therefore, more stable...

This program screwed my settings up even more than the Omega Drivers... the Omega Drivers have bee the best out (with allowing me to see something) all the drivers I tried out.
Maybe the Omega Driver developer can check out the Mobility Radeon 9200 drivers that are available on the HP site (for the Presario X1200)... that would probably be the best anyway.

When you say "the normal one" (driver), do you mean the newest Mobility Catalyst set? I know that there is a 6.2 Mobility set out, but I'm not sure about a 6.3 Mobility set. If you haven't tried out the 6.2 Mobility set, I'd say try it out and see where that gets you.
And also, there's not any problems with your LCD / LCD settings on your laptop, right?

The normal drivers I was refering to are the ones supplied by Compaq/HP and can be found on this link (they are also very old - HP has probably forgotten about us users!): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...tem=ob-30772-1
I downloaded the ATI Catalyst 6.2 set and used the mobility modding tool from Patje to try to see if that would work (as suggested). However, this produced worse results than the latest Omega Drivers, which still allowed me to see things on a horribly misshapen flickering screen (kind off like ripping out a some strands on the monitor and moving it around - wierd edges - hard to explain). So far I have tried every known modded driver with no results that are workable. I am currently using the driver supplied by Compaq/HP and my monitor works fine... but, like I said I would like to be able to use drivers like the Omega Drivers, which seem to be better and more updated than what I get from Compaq/HP. I would really appreciate it if you people wouldn't always ask the same question - to which I have supplied the answers in previous posts... what I really want is some developer iniative. Why? Because believe it or not I'm no idiot and I have tried everything possible to fix the problem - however, every single mod solution presents the same problem - at varying degrees of usability. Therefore, the only possible solution (I can think of) would be to look at the settings or code, etc. for the Mobility Radeon 9200 driver that comes for the Presario X1200 (downloadable from the link provided - above), find the solution contained therein, and add it to the installer for people like me - and those with similar problems. P.S. I am willing to beta test a solution to my problem (as long as it doesn't contain any determintal bugs - don't send me stuff wherein the codeing isn't checked/is bad.)

Use the Omega Drivers based on Catalyst 5.6 (not sure which version of the Omega Drivers that is, though). That's the only one that works with the Presario X1000 series. Catalyst versions 5.7 and above don't recognise the LCD at all. Don't worry when it says it's installing a Mobility Radeon 9000; the X1000 series actually has that card and not a true 9200.
tc!: You might want to try this one as well. The X1000 series isn't the only one that's suffered this problem. |

If your motherboard chipseta is VIA use AGP 4x and Fast-write off (change on bios and reinstall the driver without fast-write) U will increase performance with ur radeon 9200
