Keeping 4:3 aspect ratio in fullscreen on a 16:10 tft

As the topic already tells, I am looking for a way to manage having a 4:3-game running on a 16:10 tft without being strechted in one way or having a tiny thing there. Maybe on 1024x768 the margins to 1280x800 is not that big, but on 640x480 it really sucks.

I mean, a nVidia-card could make a 640x480 running on 1280x800 displayed as an interpolated physical 1066x800 (which is 4:3) so you have a fullscreen running without deformation. Why can't radeons do this?

Any suggestions?

does your tft not have a non-stretched option in the on screen menu, meaning you will get black bars down the sides for true 4:3.

the answer is quite simple: no. I have this problem on a notebook and they have per definition no bottons on them for this purpouse.

I managed to hack (via DHmod) the original catalyst & ccc to run on my siemens-notebook (they are not supported natively) but the option in the "display properties" in ccc for fixed AR scaling I believe to have seen on a friends PC is just not there.

You'll get that when you hook up a DVI display, not with VGA.

The connection can't be the problem. A friend of mine had the option on his Asus-Notebook. It seems the option is lost when hacking the Catalyst 6.2 for running on a officially not supported Notebook (Fujitsu siemens). And it seems like Omega doesn't support the option at all...

Oh and btw. I can't use an original driver, because the newest driver Fujitsu-Siemens-Computers deliver for the Amilo M 1424 is from 11.04.
