windows sux

ok first i didnt know where exacly to post this so im putting it here....anyway ive been haveing problems with windows ever since my computer jsut randomly shut off 2 weeks ago....since then if reformatted my 2 harddrives countless times and then reinstalled windows,i tried takeing my main out and installing windows to my 2nd harddrive and i got the blue screen of death during setup....when i install windows on my main harddive the install goes fine and it starts windows.....then i restart it and it gets to the screen with the windows loading screen and the little blue bar that goes across the screen freezes.......yeah....so im writeing this on featherlight linux which blows my mind!!!! its a whole OS on a single cd thats about 122mb or something like that! has firefox and a aim/icq/msn/yahoo messenger called gaim its awesome if it wasnt for absence of games and things like shockwave and java and all those things websites need like that i would use this all the time!! sorry for rambling everbody lol.....ive given up tryinf with windows....ill wait for my new computer which im getting on christmas....and thanks to featherlight linux for makeing that wait alot easier by letting me browse and IM still!!!! for those of you interested in featherlight go here http://featherlinux.berlios.de/download.htm

ur pc is broken
otherwise windows wouldnt get a BSOD.
no seriously something is wrong with your PC

windows is stable as hell

yea i know its fucked up.....maybe the mobo? i've tried other harddrives.....same problem.....

when you said that you got a BSOD during a windows install, the only thing i can think of is that you have corrupt memory. run a memory test like memtest86 to see if that is the case. it usually is when that happens.

oh, and i'm moving this to the operating systems forum

can i run memtest in linux??? i cant get on windows rember? lol well i hope its not the memory i gota use this memory in the new comp im makeing.......

memtest86 or memtest86+ runs from either a boot diskette or a bootable CD. it runs before any operating system loads.

you can also add an entry of memtest program to Linux's bootloader, but you'll need its program file to reside in Linux root system or /boot partition.
