Computer Freezes
Hi, when i download large files (50 - 80MB) files, my PC will freeze then unfreeze then keep repeating it self till i restart!
If anyone could help me plz! I use Opera to download and had winamp opened, no other things running in the background, spyware free and virus free. |

if the problem occurs when downloading compressed files then check the Opera's Downloads setting. make sure that you set the "Action" to 'Save to disk', and not the 'Open with default application'.

Opera Tools menu ->Preferences ->Advanced tab ->Downloads.
click on the file type (for example rar, zip) that causes problem to you when you're trying to download it. then click "Edit" to select (or change) the action that you want the Opera to take when encountering this file type and how you want Opera to handle files transferred to your computer. try changing those options and see if one of them can help solve the problems. also check your antivirus software settings. if possible, try changing the targets for scanning (if applicable). then manually scan the downloaded files before using it. |

or, the computer gets freeze because incorrect firewall settings...
also check your firewall logs and see if one of the firewall ruleset has blocked some communications or connections. or, see if you have a lot of traffic being blocked by the firewall. and then see if these blocked traffic has something to do with the download servers, remote servers, your ISP, or whatever? ---- also, when the problem occurs check the Task Manager and see if anything except the basic loops (system idle process) is causing CPU utilization... if the computer's CPU utilization rises to 50 (or above) percent and remain high then check and see what process causes this? Ok, i found a warning in my Event Viewer;
TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts. What does this mean? |
