can't answer that because i'm not sure what's going to be...
XP Professional x64 Edition seems to run better as i can see, but i can't provide any details about it atm since i have not spent time with the OS yet . you can run many of 32-bit programs and can also run both 64-bit and 32-bit programs side-by-side. however, in x64 there won't be any support for legacy MS-DOS and 16-bit programs.
for me the real problem now in using x64 Edition is the drivers. and this for all of my printers, scanners, modem and most of USB devices that i use them every day, no 64-bit drivers available for them yet.
i've installed the x64 on a completely separate partition, but i will have to remove every devices from the PC at every time before i unhide the partition and boot to the OS. cannot even use it for connecting to internet atm.
when all of the drivers available or i decide to but a few things new, i'll check that they comes with 64-bit drivers, and i'll build another system just for the x64 Edition.
