XP Pro to XP Pro 64

I was wondering if they will still replace your copy of pro for pro 64 even if you buy it right now. I know I'm nwb but thats ok cause I admit it.

thats what I thought, damn. New egg is selling 64 bit for like 10 bucks more. Should I just wait for Vista?

can't answer that because i'm not sure what's going to be...

XP Professional x64 Edition seems to run better as i can see, but i can't provide any details about it atm since i have not spent time with the OS yet . you can run many of 32-bit programs and can also run both 64-bit and 32-bit programs side-by-side. however, in x64 there won't be any support for legacy MS-DOS and 16-bit programs.

for me the real problem now in using x64 Edition is the drivers. and this for all of my printers, scanners, modem and most of USB devices that i use them every day, no 64-bit drivers available for them yet.

i've installed the x64 on a completely separate partition, but i will have to remove every devices from the PC at every time before i unhide the partition and boot to the OS. cannot even use it for connecting to internet atm.
when all of the drivers available or i decide to but a few things new, i'll check that they comes with 64-bit drivers, and i'll build another system just for the x64 Edition.

if you're going to do that, then wait for winVista x64 edition

. By then, x64 driver support sould be fairly ample, and you will also be using the newest OS

I know this sounds like bad Karma...but Vista has more plumbing...so it will be much easier to clog the pipes then...

I don't know if you know this, but the word "Vista" is actually a Spanish word. "Vista" means sight. With that name you can think of it as like you're looking at wonderful things (such as all the eye candy that is supposed to be enable in the new OS). Although I don't really like the name, that's how I interpret the new name.
