Windows XP Pro
I have Windows XP Home edition currently on my system.
I was wondering how much better is Windows Proffesional for gaming, its cost, and where I can buy it.
Also any Sites that let you tweak it to make it faster (like specific instructions)?
Is it really worht the upgrade? and would I have to restore my entire computer or does it just upgrade it (sorry, I don't know much bout XP software.)

Technically having pro or home shouldnt make a difference. The only rea differences between home and pro off the top of my head are, dual proccessor support in pro, EFS(encrypting file system) support in pro, and some other things that you would never need unless you're on a domain.
I havent tested the difference betweeen pro and home, but im guessing there is absolutly no difference between the two.

Professional is alot better but they kinda "blured" the lines after service pack two.
It's not worth the money you'll pay to upgrade...
Save you money for vista hehehe...

already said where you can get winXP pro from in your other thread . As far as differences between the two, unless you're doing some domain networking and needing additional security features, you will not notice any differences between winXP home and pro. As far as performance, i also agree that there aren't any differences in performance between the two OSes.

Check THIS out. It's an old site I've had book marked for a while which describes the differences between the 2 versions.

I too like pro better then home after using the two versions. It just seems I can get around pro better and find the options I want. I also use pro on a network.
Good thing my school lets me buy windows xp pro, charging me only shipping. 10 bucks is a good deal what do you think! : )
They gave me the same deal for office 2003. Keep in mind these came in the retail boxes too.
My point is, if you know someone that goes to college, or maybe even you. Try and ask the engineering or science department about their liscensing with Microsoft. You may infact be at a school that deals with microsoft.
It just takes a lot of research.
