Sad Windows XP wont install on Neo2 Pt +A64 X2 4400+

Motherboard Neo2 pt
Bios 1.9
Detects A64 X2 well

Ram crucial ballistiz 2GB (4*512) set by auto timings
raptors raid 0 sata 1/2

while phase 1 of XP install, where it copies files from cd, it randomly gives errors...

"File cannot be copied, press esc to skip, enter to retry"

tried multiple times, ever time its bunch of different files.

even when I skip certain files to reach pahse 2, XP install is hung after restart...

system is running no BIOS defaults, except for the RAID config..

tried installing on 1 drive instead of raid, and tried other sata ports....no luck, same problem...

checked wires, remove all non necessary hardware, still wont install. Even tried removing 2 memory chips...they run really warm, more than my last computer

any help ? thanks

chk this out -

Question: when you choose the partition to install XP on, are you doing a quick format, or a full format of that partition, and are you deleting/creating a partition using Windows installer?

My suggestion would be to delete the partition on the drive using something other than the Windows installer such as FDISK, SmartFDISK, or whatnot. Don't create a partition (just use it to delete it), save, reboot, then start the XP install again. You can also try creating a partition, and then use the Windows installer to delete it, then remake a new one.

Also, you said you tried other SATA ports, but have you tried changing the CDRoms? Master/Slave, Primary/Secondary?

I've had this due to RAM problems before...

Are you sure all 4 sticks are running together properly? You could either try running memtest overnight, or pulling some of the sticks out to see if you have any better luck installing Windows.
