missing Theme from services.msc

missing Theme from services.msc
Made custom winxp setup and noticed earlier ive accidently removed the Theme function. It doesnt appear in services.msc. Anyone know if theres a way for me to restore it so it appears in services.msc or any otherway for me to enable it without having to reinstall windows?

Well... since you made a custom setup, it seems that you ripped the themes service out, including all its files. The best thing to do is to reinstall Windows from a custom installation that includes the themes service

see if you have C:/WINDOWS/System32/uxtheme.dll

if not, go get that and put it in and see if themes appears

uxtheme.dll is there (ive also copied it over from a other partion just incase it was corrupt or something. also tried with modified uxtheme.dll with no luck).

The problem is it doesnt show up services.msc so I cant enable it.

it will be best if you could rebuild your custom setup CD and reinstall Windows.

okay I edited in the missing registry info (from my other partion). Also noticed the file "themeui.dll" was missing from my new setup, restored it from my other partion but does it require additional registry code?

When trying to enable the themes service I recive a error, something about the program not being able to run the service due not being integrated into yada yada...

Login to XP as the real built-in Administrator account. and Run this command...
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\themeui.dll

and then, check all of these reg infomations...

i don't know how you backup your registry, so i like to suggest you D/L ERUNT (http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt)
get the zip version (without installer) if you like. after you have the zip file, extract it into its own folder and place this folder anywhere you like.

and then run the ERUNT.EXE to backup your registry.
you can also create a batch file to run this program...

batch commands sample...

cd /d E:\ERUNT
erunt C:\ERDNT\#Date# sysreg curuser otherusers /noconfirmdelete /noprogresswindow
