Window's Media Player screwed...

okay, I don't know why, but any time I try to play any file who's type has "microsoft" in it, ie .wmv, .asf, etc. WMP crashes. I've tried reinstalling it, no change. It also crashes when I try to play mp3's.

I have previously downloaded and installed a number of codices, divx, xvid, an assload of codices relating to .ogm and .mkv videos, but they didn't screw up WMP like this on my other computer, nor on my current computer for a while.

anybody else experience this problem and/or know how to fix it?

Get better player, like bsplayer or zoom player....
And the it sounds like the windows media codecs need to reinstalled or updated.

Yeah, it sounds like you should uninstall all the codices and reinstall them as needed.
