Windows XP, My Music folder contains pictures?

I first discovered a problem with how windows treats the main folders My Pictures and My Music when the musical note from the My Music folder icon disappeard. That i fixed with this:My Pictures and My Music folders are displayed with standard folder icon. However i still have on small bug I'd like to fix. In the My Music folder there are no special MUSIC tasks, there are only special PICTURE tasks, such as "View as slide show" and "Print pictures". Anyone have solution as how to get these functions back? Also the background icon is naturally displayed as a pictures folder (an image of a picture in the bg, not a note like usual).

the hidden "Desktop.ini" file in the special folder might be corrupted or missing.

go to the "My Music" folder, and check the hidden Desktop.ini file. you can find more info about this on this page - http://computers.douglasthrift.net/winxpfaq/#faq3

see if this's the cause of the problem and the info on the page helps??

Nope, sorry, did not do any good. The link gave me some info, but didn't really solve my current problem. The desktop.ini file did exist, and was not corrupt. Here's a copy op the text:
[.ShellClassInfo]
InfoTip=@Shell32.dll,-12689
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
IconIndex=-237
[DeleteOnCopy]
Owner=Owner
Personalized=13
PersonalizedName=My Music

Pretty much the same as Douglas Thrifts file.

Ok.
the My Music folder does not provide task links to specialized tasks (Music Tasks)?

in the 'Folder Option' try switching back and forth between Show common tasks in folders and Use Windows classic folders.

also, try creating a new folder and move or copy some music files in. and then go to View menu ->Customize This Folder, select any music type as a templete. see if you can get the Music Tasks on this folder?

I am able to create a new folder containing music and the music tasks are shown. Although Windows is stupid and some times says that a folder containing nothing but pictures is a music folder or vice-versa. However these settings are configurable through the customize folder dialog, this however is not the case with the My Music folder, which for some bizarre reason has no customize folder dialog (Microsofts idea of "don't mess with this or it'll blow")

that is what i thought that you will get the specialized tasks to show on the new folder.

it would take time before i can get a registry fix for this, or i might not be able to find it at all. will try to locate it or see if there is one available somewhere when i can and let you know.

in every XPs the 'Customize This Folder' is not on the View menu of the special folder.
