DVD-R problems

Hey guys
I'm having some issues with my DVD writer. it all started after I was playing around with dvd region free and dvd genie (which I have uninstalled). Whenever I insert a blank DVD my dvd rom drive and my dvd writer spin up and down making strange noises. they do not stop or bring up the windows autoplay DVD function (which I have enabled). yet if I put in a blank CD all is as it should be. My drives are the liteon sohw 1633 DVD writer and the liteon sohd 167t. I have updated Nero, the drives firmware and anything else I can think of. Please help!

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers for the device and reinstalling them? You may also want to look at your video codecs to see if anything was installed by the programs that you were using previously.
