System rebooting

Hi everyone, I've a problem: my system reboots without any reason. After changing my configuration this problem appared. I've tried to format my hard-disk but it didn't work. What can I do?

This is my conf:
Athlon XP 2000+
512 MB SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9700 PRO
Avance AC '97 Audio integrated on the mainboard
CD Reader Asus CD-S500/A
CD Recorder Plextor Plexwriter PX-W2410A
DVD Recorder Toshiba SD-R5002
Controller SCSI RAID Silicon Image Sil 0680 ATA/133
Controller Ultra SCSI Tekram DC-350
Controller FIREWIRE (I don't remember the name)
Ehternet/LAN 100 Mb/s board Realtek RTL8139
Hard disk Maxtor 60 GB SCSI
Hard disk Maxtor 40 GB ATAPI
Lucent 56k win modem
2 Slim monitors (15" and 17" inches)
4 USB 2.0 Ports
a floppy

I have Windows XP as operating system and I have downloaded all the latest drivers. I have a 300 volts AC. Maybe this the problem?

Disable "Reboot on crash" under your advanced system properties, that way you'll be able to find out what is going wrong.

I thank you, it worked. But I have also anther problem: my system crashes on startup. It gives an error concernig memory adresses. Do you know something?

Does it say what program is crashing when it gives yuo the memory addresses? Or what module?

No, it says only the adress: 00000000000....24 or smting like this

1 512MB stick or 2 256MB sticks, and what brand? Also, when did this problem start? What instigated it?

Check this out, I just had a problem like this... I tried to overclock above 1410 (current speed), I tried to go to 1463 (133x11) and it would boot to windows then just restart in a constant loop. Try dropping your CPU multiplier by one or just lower the FSB.

So, what did you change? Like, from Intel Celeron 433MHz to this AMD? If you did this, you have to reinstall your Windows. Try to modify the boot-sequence - boot from your XP installation CD. 300 volts - you must mean 300W? My system did this once... I've got this Pentium IV 1,8GHz. I overclocked it to 1,9GHZ, then 2.0GHz, then I tried something "overmuch"

- now I'm happy with 1,8GHz

Who says this "adress: 00000..." - is it your XP or before attempting to start XP? If it is your XP, no problem, just reinstall (or upgrade, if it allows you to) OS.

You can also try pulling out those SDRAM's & put 'em back in different order [don't laugh, this can really help!]

Is that a STOP 0x000... (in other words a BSOD) message, or something of the kind ? Could you be more specific ? Is that a INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error, by any chance ?

If not, can you boot into Windows at all, or does it crash systematically ?

Concernig the SDRAM I have 1 512 mb stick.

I have changed a Pioneer DVD reader with the Toshiba writer and added a SCSI RAID Controller with a 60GB Maxtor SCSI hard disk

I meant 300w, sorry. I haven't overclocked anything, and I have the same processor.

These are the two kind of error I get (the STOP 0x000000.... ): UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME and PFN_LIST_CORRUPT. These errors occurs before WinXP loads.

I've also formatted my startup hard disk more than one time

try removing one of your devices to find out if it's a power supply problem
