I had a similar problem. There is probably a fault with the Path.
If you go to Start - Run - cmd and type "cd\" at the prompt, you
should get C:\> then type CD windows , and then CD system32.
Then try your ipconfig again.
I fixed mine by going to start - settings - control panel - system -
advanced- envronmental variables - select "path" under "system
variables" and click "edit". In the "variable value box" edit or
change it to read
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\Sy stem32\wbem
Mine had a lot of stuff after "wbem" which I deleted, which I'm not
sure how important it was, but I have not seen any problem so far.
There is some reference to this in this Microsoft article:

hello evo, looked at the knowledge base artical from ms and my exact problem was not listed.but i decided to then look to see if there was a path defined for my environment variables, like i know what that means, but there was no path present.wonder what happened to that.LOL.so i pasted in the path that was listed in the artical and wala , it was fixed.thx for finding that, guess i need to look through ms stuff seeing how im running windows.later

hey evo,i think there is some other issue also.after i got my connection back up and running i was going to play coduo mp and my pings have doubled.i have reset the modem, cycled the modem, rebuilt my tcip settings and also released and renewed within windows ipconfig.nothing seems to fix it.my connection is 3360kbits down and 864kbits up.that is almost t2 range and im getting 170+ms ping on servers i was getting 30ms to 70ms.ive heard that verizon has alot of packet loss but when i talked to them they say that my down/up speed is within spec so there is nothing they can do.well just lastnight it was fine.im freaking upset because i cant play any online games with that type of ping.thx for helping me get the ipconfig working.later
