Help with windows update...
I am getting the:
0x800a0046 error with windows update. 1. Click Start 2. Choose Run 3. Type cmd and then click OK. Type: sc sdset wuauserv D A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;SY)(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA) (A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;AU)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;PU) and then press ENTER. You will receive a "Success" message. 4. Type Exit to close the command prompt. 5. Try Windows Update again. (NB - You should be able to confirm that this has worked by typing: sc sdshow wuauserv in a command prompt!) I stopped the automatic update service first, then did this, and I am getting an access denied message to modify it, how do I give me self access even when I am the admin??

i'd try reading and posting about this problem in MS and Google newsgroups, go to the related WU newsgroups then fixing this problem from there, if you have not tried that. if you also get an error within the local sec settings then you might want to do another reformat and reinstall Windows because it seems to be the easiest way for this case.

Yeah I probably was just going to try another format, I know the exact reason it happened. If you care to hear.

Well I had new Kygston ram. I didn't supply enough voltage to the ram, therfore by sending corrupted data back to my hard drive, and screwing things up in the process. So now after fixing that, I formatted and re-installed everything and it all works fine now. The ram is recieving enough voltage and windows and everything else is working perfectly. So I am happy now.
