Xp install dies everytime at 60%
I have had the xp pro crash and not able to boot. I have zero out the hard drive to start fresh install. but when installing it it stops at 60% gives me a error saying that the image disc is bad. but running same disk on different system it goes thru just fine. I got new IOS image and did it again and it did the same error. Does any body have any idea on how to get this going. Or any way how to dumb this file thrugh ms-dos I have tried everything and I' about ready to piss this thing down the drain.

try another CD drive first. and see. (just during the setup)
pls post back.
---
and as you told us this same setup CD can be used on the other system without any error. if the files that cannot be copied on this system during the Windows setup are not important files (such as some bitmaps for using on Windows tour) then you can skip, and then copy these files from another XP system to this system in the same location at later time. but first you will have to give me the name of the files and then i can tell you what to do next.. so write down the name of files that the setup program cannot copy from CD, and see how many files that cannot be copied ?
---
also, try giving your system a good cool-down period, turn off the system, then removing and reseating the system RAM modules. it might need just that. and try setting up the Windows again.

not quite sure that i understand,
But anyway run the Windows setup again, you will do a "clean" Windows XP installation.
set BIOS to boot CD before HDD and also disable the BIOS virus checks, leave the rest of Bios settings at default. then boot the XP CD direct, then select and "delete" the current partition and then create a new RAW one to be formatted, then choose to run a regular format on the partition (not the quick one) so that, the HDD will be scanned for bad sectors, going on to format the new partition as part of the setup and continue the Windows setup.

before starting to setup the Windows,
in this case you would have to remove every hardware devices from the system except PS/2 keyboard and mouse. you know what i mean.
And, whenever you receive any BSOD write down the error code and other things that shows on that screen, and tell us in full detail.

AND THEN CAME UP WITH THE SAME ERROR. AS BEFORE SAYING BAD FILES . bUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT COPIED BEFORE AND NOW IT WON'T EVEN DO IT AGAIN LIKE AN HOUR LATER.

Erm... maybe you've got a bad memory chip or a faulty CD drive or a faulty IDE cable for your CD drive. Check these first
