I have done a fresh install of Windows XP SP2, but after installing some programs, Windows doasen't load my two dvd devices, they apears with a yellow mark in the devie manager.
This is the message:

"Windows cuoldn't initiate this hardware device because your configuration information (in the registry) is incomplet o damaged. (Code 19)"

How can i solve this problem?

EEK! Sis 630/730 video problems on laptop (mitac 7521T)

I was given to fix a laptop from a friend with no working DVD or Video functions
it had XP proff. setup and after he testet all kinds of settings it was FUBAR.
The setup disk wich came originally with this thing had only drivers for Win98.
So I cleaned it out, the usual way. new partition, fat32 disk system and Win98
After some work on my part the graphic display was looking better.
But no DVD or other video formats. cant play avi or anything with motion.
I installed Adobe Movie Prewiew and i can play inside that software there demo clips, noware else.

this is a Mitac 7521T laptop
with sis 630/730 chipsett
sis 900 ethernet adapter
sis 7018 AC-97 V2.1Codec
14.1” TFT, XGA LCD, Resolution: 1024x768 XGA
Tualatin PIII 1000MHz

I can not belive that i am the only one with this problem or the onlyone who had to go through this ordeal so please please please advice me on this matter

Code 19 refers to a bad registry. It can be a false code, but it usually means that the registry could be corrupt, the device isn't listed in the registry, but more to the point that the registry has returned an unknown result. Vague, I know.

Give this a shot first (and this depends on your hardware). Go into device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Take a look at the properties of your Secondary IDE Channel, and look under the Advanced Settings tab. Make sure that under each device heading (Device 0, Device 1) that they are both using "DMA if available" as Transfer Mode. They should not be set to "PIO Only". Reboot if it asks you to. Also, under IDE section, is your IDE controller showing up as a "Standard Bus Master controller" or "Standard Dual IDE controller"? if either is true then you might want to reinstall your IDE drivers as XP might have defaulted to standard drivers (this can happen if XP restored an earlier registry before you had installed them). If you list what motherboard you have I can tell you specifically what driver to install.

Last thing if all else fails: go into device manager and uninstall both optical drives. Shut your machine down, and disconnect them from the machine. Reboot, then shut down and reconnect 1 device. If it works, shut down and reconnect the next device. This allows XP to redetect each device as if it were newly installed.

If memory serves that is an SiS630ST graphics chip that runs that notebook. Try This Driver to see if corrects the display problem. Also, try to find another DVD player software like ClipRex DVD which is free, or PowerDVD which is the best software, but it's not free.

this is an old thread and the problem may have now been corrected,
but anyway my suggestion to Edswor for the initial problem on your first post.

if you have installed any CD-R/DVD writing/burning softwares then using Add/Remove to remove it first,
then check your registry and remove the "Upperfilters" and "Lowerfilters" values completely from the following registry key:-
"HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36 E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"
you will need to reboot the PC after that.

note-- check your registry first,
if the values do not exist, then the above steps will not help you.
if the values do exist, backup your registry and then take all the mentioned steps and reload your burning softwares after that. and see.
