Uninstalling and reinstalling?

I recenetly uninstalled Call of Duty and Call of Duty:United Offensive. Well today I went to reinstall them and when i put the Call of Duty disk into the drive it starts up and instead of the install option it has the uninstall option. After clicking unistall it opens the DemoShield and then it just disappears. I have tried rebooting and have searched the HD's for any Call of Duty files to manually delete and cant find any. When I originally uninstalled the games I used the Add or Remove Programs feature under control panel. What am I doing wrong?

UPDATE
After going into the registry I found a Call of Duty folder under Activision...will I mess stuff up if I delete this? i doubt it but rather ask before i screw it up. Here is a screenie.

I think there was somethng still in the registry makin the cd believe that the game is already installed. I used CCleaner to scan the registry and delete the entries that it found were no longer valid. This seemed to work because the game is installing now.
