i hate being that so in a serious manner that you expected and asked for, SP2, and everything is fine.

I'm running sp1 with a bunch of sp2 files in the mix.. Installed xp-sp1 over an existing sp2 installation and well, the results were pretty interesting. It seems I retained a bunch of sp2 stuff (mostly IE related) after the reinstall of slipstreamed sp1, which was spiffy. Returned to normal uber stability and well, it works.

I had SP1 and everything is fine. When I reinstall Windows and used it as sp2 slipstream install. Now I got way too much pop-up and spyware than I have in SP1. I did enable pop-up from explorer but I still get crappy pop-up like smilyface, earn extra cash, more junks.

There are one or two more 'features' to turn off after a fresh installation with SP2, but other than that a slipstreamed WinXP-SP2 is indeed a good thing.

i'm still using the last ghost image of my Windows XP SP1, the SP2 was installed on top of it, have not seen any problem so i've not done an actual reformat of the OS partition and a full/clean install of Windows yet. i'm too lazy for that so never try to find a free time to do it. lol. and i think in my case i probably use it as it is till the next SP. actually, i still have and use both XP SPs, they are installed on a completely separate partition, and are also having slightly different in the installed software, besides the SP.

SP1, after my experience with SP2 I do not wish to go there again. I do update windows with all other patches, but I will not go even close to a full installation of SP2.

No problem with SP2, never had any problem with it either.
My current XP-installation is runnin since januari '04 it had every beta/rc of SP2 on it,
and still is runnin perfect (current uptime = 67hours with 19 processes)
The trick= runnin a clean machine. (and having a decent firewall)

just reinstalled Winxp on 2 machines
First was my primary (see sig), second was a rebuild Athlon 750 w/ MSI K7 Pro motherboard.
WinXP SP1 slipstream install, then installed SP2 ontop through Windows udpate. No problems on either system.
The security centre is a joke though. MS paying lip service to security, and it only annoys people who know what they're doing to no end. First thing I do is disable it.
