System32 folder popup...
Since some time the 'system32' folder automatically pops up every time my Windows XP is started. Why is this? How can it be solved?

check your startup folder. Also check the autorun, load, and run settings in the registry.

System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT 4.0

note-- Sound Blaster Audigy 2 is known to have an incomplete entry in the RUN registry. there's a fix for it, pls post back if you use it.

wonder how those sites can modify or add anything to the startup items,
if they can do that they probably can do more like deleting files or take your infos..

Thanks guys!
By coincidence, I have a laptop at work I'm checking with the same problem (in addition to others). I'll check out your link panging, and the other stuff too craig588. I was ignoring the System32 window because this thing would intermittently freeze and give undefined (by the manual) beep sequences when booting from a USB floppy. This could be a clue to how it's being used, which might help me understand the main problem.

i like to suggest you dont control your starup items by running msconfig (System Configuration Utility) with your windows at all time. use it to see the info you need to know then delete/modify any items manually.
