Random corrupt downloads

Lately I've been getting a lot of corrupted downloads (primarily game demos). In the past it was never a problem but lately it's pretty much 50/50. For example I just downloaded the Painkiller demo from File Front. On the first attempt winZip produced an error as soon as I tried to extract it. After downloading it a second time it extracted fine but once it started installing, I recieved a warning of another corrupt file.

I was wondering if any of you might have any suggestions as to how I might identify the cause of this problem. I use Comcast cable (2.4Mb), Surfboard modem, Zone Alarm, Norton Antivirus. Any ideas?

If your system is overclocked in any way that could be the cause. Apart from that, dunno..

No overclocking here, (except for my 1st time videocard oc yesterday) but this problem has been happening for about a month and a half....

The fact you were able to unzip it the second time suggests it isn't being corrupted by your internet connection - it's not possible to extract an archive if it is corrupt in any way (unless you ignore the errors and continue anyway). Try running scandisk or something? Could be a hard drive problem.

Very interesting....

Whether or not it is the source of the problem, that's an excellent reason to tidy up the mess of cables in my system.

Thanks for the input!
