??? Locking my work station...

Hello,

I am running WinXP Pro, i have it setup so it boots to windows and loads all my programs

I have no passwords on bootup and no login screens, just loads straight to my account (mines the only account on the PC) and loads my programs in startup

Is there anyway to lock/password protect the system so when i leave it know one can alter it ?

I dont really wanna use a screen saver with a password.

Is there anyway to lock it without having a password on bootup ?

Wanna do this so i can lock it so no one can alter it so all my back ground programs carry on working.

Cheers

i understand you've bypassed the logon screen...
actually i need more info.. before i can answer the question...
i didt see you online.., you just have to follow the below steps then and see if it helps.

1) is your account password protected?
if not, create your password.

2) on the Start menu, do you still have the Log off button?
if no, and you removed it using windows registry, then modify back

3) you use auto logon, did you add user password in the windows registry?
if yes, remove it. if you have no idea, dont worry about this.

Once you have all above checked... follow the next steps..
Open Run... box and enter this command... control userpasswords2
and hit enter key, Uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this Computer", Click Apply,
a dialog box appears, type in your user name and password (Administrator may show as default, replace it with your logon name), Click OK to close the box.
Reboot your PC, you should still have your auto logon, but when you logoff you'll need to enter your password.

Sorted it

Downloaded a programs called TweakUI, set that to auto log on with a password.

Then in startup add a short cut to lock system
