you mean real DOS, if so, running it off the win9x boot disk.

there's no real dos in XP, its only a basic Safe Mode of XP that use cmd.exe as shell
if you mean this, you can have the mode at boot 'automatically' by..
adding " /SAFEBOOT " (no "" when typing) to the end of the line of your BOOT.INI,
or you can config the boot.ini in the System Configuration Utility by running "msconfig" command.

if you ask him, he was saying that he wants... "when it boots up , it will automatic go in Dos mode"

but if the question is for me,.... recovery console is not DOS either its also run under the CMD.EXE as shell, you can only use it to navigate or run command line tools.

recovery console, basic Safe Mode of XP and CMD window, they may look like DOS but its not real DOS, no true DOS mode is supplied as part of XP.

actually, he can make a minimal DOS mode startup floppy from within XP,
this will get him a winME boot disk, the boot disk will has command.com only,
no others external commands, it shound be good for bios flashing after adding a bios flash program and its data to the disk.

Jincuteguy,...

it's is useful to post back, saying that the suggestion worked (or not). that tells us and others if it is a useful solution.
