Longhorn - Yay or nay?

I must admit that I've only seen a few screenshots of an alpha version of Longhorn and I'm 'nay'ing right now. From what I could see from the screenshots, it's no different from XP, save having a bizarre stylised system clock and a menu bar on the right that is the size of a small third world country. Now, I have no idea about the specs behind the OS, but in terms of looks, I'm not too happy.

Anyone with a more 'informed' (or even hands on) view care to tell us if we should be excited?

LongHorn

The Alpha builds are buggy and very slow, but from what I have read this op sys is not going to be backwards compatable with what we all use now..

System Specs

.... from what i can tell from "using it", the screenshots aren't protraying it's capabilities at all..... can't make any judgement off of it.... as every build (that's more then +15) adds new features... There is no beta version out at all yet, still WAY alpha.....

The way Longhorn looks may not be what it will look like in 2005, when it's predicted to be released.
M$ will maybe get out with a whole new GUI. Just the way they did with Windows 3.11 to Windows 95.
And 10 years of using the Start Meny concept, it maybe is a bit old stuff.

It would though be nice to if Microsoft did design a whole new GUI concept.

Also, Longhorn will be using Directx 9 features. Some are saying that it won't be able to be used on non-dx9 gfxcards. But in the time of 2005, almost every computer will have graphiccards with DirectX 9 support. That is what Microsoft have been saing.

But Longhorn may be delayed as well.
