Ie 7?

Where is it? Will there be one? Just because MS owns 95% of the current net with the use of (IE Source:WebInformant) Why don't they push for further development? Mozilla and others have tabbed browsing and such which IE lacks. I'm just wondering if there will be a new IE or not.

As far as i'm aware there is no plans for a stand alone IE7, all future IE's will be built into windows so Longhorn will have IE 7 (or whatever they call it) and it wont be downloadable. Win 2k3 and XP users will get service packs to 6 until it leaves product support.

The thing that irks me about this is that they won't fix transparent PNGs in IE. I don't use IE myself, but I can't use alpha transparency PNGs on any websites because it won't work in IE. MS could have fixed this a long time ago, and if they had, we wouldn't be stuck with still having to use 256 color GIFs with jagged edges.

Doesn't DH have a script that makes those PNG's display correctly?

I believe so, but I'd also like to use them in the default Deluxe Portal distribution. I've tried scripts with it, but they all had problems when it came to doing certain things (IIRC image backgrounds was one problem).

So it would use an image matte? That's no good for me.

They have to be able to work on any color background.

Ah, I understand... then there is no other way than CSS or javascript hacks.
