Notice small improvements in games! So these are keepers. I don't use 3dmark so can't say anything about that. Plus who cares about 3dmark points.

I've noticed that since the release of DX9 that when I start the tests in the DXDIAG app, it wants to access my CD-ROM drive. This causes the initial portion of the test to really slow to a crawl. This test is the one that has the bouncing square within the window.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I was hoping that this recent release would correct that, but it doesn't....at least not for me.

It actually takes MS a few days sometimes to get something like this posted. I know it was that way with the last several DX updates

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll wait for the public download on MS download site though. I would like to read the release notes to see what was updated or improved. Did anything like that come with what you guys downloaded and installed? Could you post it or supply I link.

it were only when i installed dx9.0b i found it were the front screen/load screen etc keeped flickering from actual screen to black screen constantly, and very stuttery game play with dx9.0b.every other game i had were fine.but 9.0b were a beta when i installed it.

i will wait for it to come on windows main dx site for the official one then try again.

Mine to. I didn't even think of checking that kind of stuff until I saw your post. I downloaded DX9b off of Microsoft's site to.

What's up with this?

Everything seems to be running ok.

I've noticed that file being listed as 'beta retail' through multiple revisions of DX. Who knows what's up with that?

UPDATE: I found a little blurb through google that said that mfc42.dll has been
beta since 07.12.1999! Something to do with certain ActiveX objects never being finalised.

I think it is connected to Omega Cats

I remember one dll being reported as debug when I had Omega 3.(forgotten version!) running earlier this year. However I'm not sure. Hopefully the great Omega himself might enlighten us on the matter.

It's the Full Package... it includes all the files it needs to be able to install it on any windows OS... Because i fix computers.. .with different OSes, i won't have to run the WEBinstall... (peice of crap)... and in such cases as windows xp cd.... i can intergrate it into the cd so that when i install windows xp fresh.... i don't have to even download or run it.... it's preinstalled...

It's not connected to omega. I get it to and I have a nvidia card and don't use omega's tweaked drivers.
