rolleyes W2k SP4 issues

Eversince I installed SP4, I had the strange feeling that there was something not right,
long startup times long, and sometimes even longer shutdowns,
network not working as it should, to be short; a sort of W-XP feeling
was thinking of going back to SP4rc beta ,which was runnin great for me,
when yesterday eve was reading on Warp2search this article with a link to w2knews.
So did any of you w2k users notice simular behavior

I noticed the extreme log on times, and less stability. I didn't think SP4 could have been the problem, but apparently it is. I'm gonna go try some of the fixes.

I get in a pc at work BSOD with the "IRQ_LESS_OR_EQUAL" message. I hope that this is caused by the mobo's drivers (Via P4X-266) and not because I've installed the SP4. I've installed the latest via drivers (Hyperion v. 4.48). If anything starnge comes up I'll let you know

This sounds more of an "older" AMD/w2k issue...
here is the patch right side of page: MS AGP patch for w2000.

It might be, but I'm on a P4 @ work. Sorry that i didn't mention it before.
Although the specific BSOD appeared at my old pc (QDI Kinetiz 7b - Duron@850), when i formatted it to winxp and i forgot to put in the mobos drivers, every time I tried to transfer something from my cd to the hard disk. After I did, all went back to normal.

I didn't helped me with my problem (I disabled the in built sound card ) but it gave me a new prespective!

You need to understand Microsoft's way of thinking which was
explained by kmatherne below - because you haven't logged in yet, the option
to use Last Known Good Configuration is still valid. When you log in, the
current state of the computer is recorded as the new Good Configuration as
it assumes that you wouldn't have logged on if it wasn't good.
Those guys rock!

System Specs

I had issues with my ISDN card... it couldn't download any data from the internet etc...
Had to revert to SP3...

SP4 was not tested enough, apparently...

Windows Update will no longer function under SP4 with Corp. serial numbers - OR - MS builds w/o serial input required
