Anyone got an opinion on this windows version?

Well i went ahead and loaded onto an old laptop (400 mhz celeron/ 128meg ram) and it does seem stable. Uses a small amount of memory compared to Xp but has the skins etc which 2000 hasent. Only touble is the sound chip is not recognised. Ill try it out for a while and see if it gives problems.
Cheers gbok

Windows 2003 Memory Handling is better than Windows XP's, there's not a lot of difference between the two; other than 2K3's server capabilities.

Hi there.

I run win 2003 Server ( 6 months eval) and I have to say that It is the best OS that came from Microsoft.
It takes time to tweak it (to make it work as workstation) but when you done you can really enjoy it.

Way better than Win XP or 2000

The only problem I found is that not to many antivirus programs work with that OS and that "AGP Texture Acceleration"
is grayed out (on my AIW 9700 pro).

If you need any help with the transformation Server to workstation let me know.

Which ant virus program do u use Kazman?
Are there any general utility programs (such as Norton utilities) which work ok?
Any other major tips which u have for setting up on older hardware would be apprecited.
Cheers gbok
p.s. thanx everybody for the replies

I believe this is a good guide. www.msfn.org/win2k3/

I went through it once and I did follow it with no problems. Though I did not run it for many hours until I went back to 2000 again.
I personally thinks that a serverOS should be installed on a dedicated server, and Win2k3 is NOT cheaper than winXP.

But...if anyone got better stability and performance with win2k3 compared to winxp, let me know

Hi all.

I have the same guide as the link above. I used that gude and I trully belive that, when server 2003 is optimized it works great.
But I also have to say that the more power you have under the hood (computer) the more you can enjoy it.

I use it for DVD burning CDR burning and image manipulation with out any problems and and it is fast, when using other OS products I get it to work but it takes more time to do it.

Note that, This is only my opinion.
