IME gone
I used to have IME for another language. I was always in my taskbar notifying me what language input method is on currently. One day I turned off for some reason(I don't remember) now I can't get it back. I tried reinstall in laguage option in control panel but I am not getting it back.
Somebody help, please.

Do you only have one language installed? If so, the toolbar won't appear

Go under control panels, Regional and Language settings, Language Tab then click the details button, at the bottom of the page there are the language bar options, if it's greyed out then like Uber said you probably only have one language installed.

start/run and entering.. intl.cpl
click languages (tab) ->details.. ->language bar...
and un-checked "show the language bar on the desktop".
make a .reg file from below and import it..
after rebooted, go back to the above step but re-check it this time.
----------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}]
@="Language bar"
"MenuTextPUI"="@%SystemRoot%\\System32\\msutb. dll,-325"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\Implemented Categories]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\InProcServer32]

"ThreadingModel"="Apartment"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000
-----------------------------
use the above registry entry on windows XP only!
becareful whenever you play with windows registry. good luck!

you are welcome..
and you dont have any prob. in windows man thats just an options..
but if you cant get the "language bar" to show on taskbar's context menu then you need the above .reg file to fix it.

Alright.
I'm just curious. Panging.
Why did this language bar suddenly just disappear one day? I never messed up with that "turn off advanced text services" check box in advanced tab.

do you use any tweaker programs?
due to "Text services" require computer memory and will affect system performance and some tweaker programs will turn it off in order to gain somes for the system.. since turning off text services does not affect multiple languages or keyboards that you have added under "Installed services" in the "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box, you can still switching keyboards' input languages by setting the "Hot keys for input languages" in "Key Settings..".
and this for your info..
what i used to have was..
the "Language Bar.." button was not grayed out and the "Show the language bar on the desktop" has already been marked..
but i didnt get the language bar's icon nor listing in context menu.. and thats came about after playing with options in MS Office. i had to add the above reg entries to get things backed in its places!
