I'm not sure if the source code problem is related, but I know that to fix your image problem all you should have to do is clean out your temporary internet files. When those fill up, for some strange reason, Internet Explorer likes to save pictures in BMP format instead of the JPG/GIF format they should be in.

Clearing your Temporary Internet Files *may* fix your problem viewing source code, too... I'm not really sure.

very often that i've that probs. due to i like to change location of the TIF folder around my local HDDs..
so if you've already done as brc64's but the probs still, let try the following and see..

"the amount of disk space to use:" for "temporary internet file" is too small...
start/run, in the dialog box type "inetcpl.cpl",
select delete cookies.. / delete files..(also delete all of line content) / clear history
then select "setting" and to increase "the amount..." make it to 2 times the existing value

delete all existing "index.dat" files under your profile...
log off and login as "administrator" and search within your profile and delete all of it then log back in.
index.dat file locations (may very and/or could be more on yours)
X:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Cookies\
X:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\
X:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\UserData\
X:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\

or could be.. windows registry (in portion of "save pics as")is missing/damaged
locate following entries and adjust it manaully or make a ".reg" file from below and merge/import it...
----------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif]
"PerceivedType"="image"
"Content Type"="image/gif"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg]
"PerceivedType"="image"
"Content Type"="image/jpeg"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg]
"PerceivedType"="image"
"Content Type"="image/jpeg"

-----------------------

and if its still after all that... pls reply!
