Memory problems??
according to win 98se i have only 256 mb 333ddr installed when it should actually be 512 mb
i have a MSI KT4V Mobo which supports 266 , 333 and 400 DDR is it a 98se problem?? mobo problem?? or a wrong label on my memory ??

What is being reported when you boot your computer on the bios screen? It could be that you have double-sided ram and your motherboard only supports single sided in that particular dimm slot. If your bios post screen is only reporting 256, change dimm slots (I am assuming that this is a single dimm you are talking about) and see if that helps.

Good luck - check your motherboard manual - I bet that there is some specification concerning double vs. single sided dimms in certain dimm slots.

supports single and double in every slot according to the manual  and i have changed Dimm slots and it still comes up as 256 mb

Damn - does the bios report it as 256 as well? If so, then i'd be taking it back to the store.

bios reports it as 256mb ... i bought it online i'll get in touch with them tomorrow morning ... they are actually quite good to deal with

it wasn't my mobo mate ... the memory had the wrong label attached to it ... i got my replacement memory this morning and it is showing up as 512mb
