Well, the problem with Bootvis is that when you disable some services that BlackViper suggests, then the programm cannot run (it says something like Timed Out waiting for the Scheadule Service to start)

"disable some services"
make sure you do not disable ..COM+ Event System , Event Log , Task Scheduler, Windows Management Instrumentation .. or Bootvis will not run
"it says something like Timed Out waiting for the Scheadule Service to start"
may be just "Task Scheduler" ..so try to set its start type to "Automatic"

That's the whole idea. I thing that those services are useless, so I disable them. I thing that it's a waste of time to activate and deactivate them in order to make bootvis to launch.

The problem I have sometimes is with services not loading and installing properly. Disabling anything more than the business services always seems to cause me problems too. I'm studying blackvipers site at the moment because his guide to services is very comprehensive.
I think I'd rather have a slow boot but stable load anytime tho...
My shutdown is about 6 secs which is good. It used to take ages prior to Creative updating and patching AUDIGY 2 drivers and apps (Esp DVD)
And of course from a security standpoint it's wise to clear the paging file. Even if I tick this option it only adds another 5 secs.

Ok, I did it!
I've noticed that when I booted up my system, there was a slight speed improvement. I mean that before the "patch" (let's call it a patch), the windows bar was repeating 5 times, while now, it's repeating only two
Cool, I might say. Thnx a lot Tec

Hmm, mine only goes accross 1 time w/ the X-setup tweaks- but I disabled quite a few services including:
-Automatic updated
-Error reporting
-Fast user switching
-Indexing
-Internet connection Firewall (ICF)/Internet connection Sharing ......
-Messenger
-Net meeting remote desktop sharing
-Print spooler --(no printer on this machine)
-QoS RSVP
-Remote Desktop Help Session Manager
-Remote Registry
-Secondary logon
-SSDP Discovery Service
-System Restore
-Uninteruptable Power Supply
-Universal Plug and Play device host
-Windows Time
Wireless Zero Configuration
And I have about twice as many Sevices than that set to manual- I actually only have 23 services set to automatic. I think that makes a big difference.

I followed the services guide and used safe settings, defragged, and rebooted. The blue bar didn't even get half way across before the desktop started loading up. Simply amazing. Thanks for the tip, got me a new perma bookmark.
