"Indeo" ended up going to LIGOS - and they CHARGE for the WinXP version!
http://www.ligos.com/indeo.htm
And do not even offer the older version, which many say DOES run with XP - though that IS widely available elsewhere!
Although one links to a (still valid) legacy 5.11 version download at LIGOS
Some "codec packs" do include versions which perhaps should not be distributed, rips, hacks etc.
Many in legitimate CD recording forums/newsgroups etc. have no qualms about recommending the "RADIUM" Fraunhofer codec (technically warez), or the LAME MP3 codec (in patent violation in countries that accept the mire of software patents).
There is a name for products given as free and then withdrawn (and commonly applied to some trialware as well).
"Drug Dealer Ware" - they give you free samples, get you hooked so you can't do without it, and then there's the sting!
PS. I NEVER, EVER trial anything that I wasn't already considering.
