Anyone else failing DirectX March 2008 Install?

This is irritating the hell outa me..

Anyone getting an error stating that an internal error has occurred message right at the end of the dx setup?

I cannot get it to work on any of the older machines, but works FINE with the newer ones.

After searching the net for ages it seems, theres been some references make that it's due to that system not supporting any form of SSE.... i find this rather odd.

Anyways, it would seem to make some sense as every machine that doesn't support any form of SSE... won't accept it...

Pretty rediculious if that's the case. A well, gonna try January or earlier nov version.

No problems so far. I only use the end-user redistributable though, and most times I install it after I've installed the add-on that came out for AutoPatcher.

How "old" is the older machines? Anything else installed that could be blocking the installer?

Confirmed to be a problem after attempting to install the march update on some other machines that i had novembers release on.

I can continue to isntall the november redistrutable.... but that's it.. the end.

These machines consist of a Via KT133 chipset, AMD Athlon/Durons that maxes out @ 1.3ghz on both machines. ATI AGP 4x cards.

Everything is up to date.

I can't even install Microsofts SilverLight.... says it's unsupported which is really funny considering that everything listed in the requirments is beyond it.

IE7, SP2 + updates, + Latest drivers and software installed.... 1300mhz duron in one machine and 1300mhz Athlon (crippled athlon xp, but only because the FSB doesn't support 133mhz)

Strange....

Very strange. Do you think it's a compatibility issue?

Wait a sec... I remember a client once had an issue while trying to install Direct X on a Duron machine one time. She was trying to install a game, Sims I think, and the install would fail every time. Can't quite recall what I did to get it working, but I think I had to go back to an older 4 in 1 driver.

However, there was something else at the time about changing something in the registry that had to do with the pagefile. Something about forcing a lower page limit or something. Edit: Found it. I remember seeing this as a patch for Win2k, but it became available for XP at some point too.

gave that fix a whirl and nope...

dx march 2008 release refused to work on either of the machines..

and i've just increased the machines affected to 9, all of which are much much older.... and they to do not allow for silverlight to be installed.

all of which are running xp home/pro/media2005, full SP2 updated.. and such..... november dx installs no hitch.. but march is a no go...

even in intel chipsets....(intel P2 450mhz) and on one P3 733
