windows firewall - unable to turn off
I am unable to turn off the windows firewall. The option is grayed out, and it says: For your security, some settings are by Group Policy.
i can't recall i even set it up this way. And i haven't got a clue how to disable this. I'm sure there has to be a way. I've looked my way through the internet for options, but i seem to get stuck halfway through the steps because they apparently make a step I'm unable to do.
anybody here got any idea how to turn this off?

well... is the computer part of bigger network since I know how to do that when you are corporate network and using active directory and stuff to set the settings for everyone. Now if this is just stand alone workstation then there might be some issues with user rights and local security policy.

all i know is, if this is a home computer, i used to know that some (registry) tweakers programs offers to do that in it's auto mode.

i don't think any hackers would want to have the firewall in the system to be on, so i just don't see any other reasons really.

actually, 'hackers' could put exceptions in the firewall & disallow a/v & windowsupdates from connecting, leaving the user unpatched & prone to being attacked another way
